I’ve always been interested in what the stars have to say. For years I have checked zodiac signs before first dates, flipped to horoscopes in magazines before I travel, and sought them out in the early morning hours of important events in my life.
One thing I never considered was incorporating the stars into my diet. It wasn’t until I was standing in line humming and hawing between two different cold-pressed juices and my friend asked me what my sign was, that I started to think about what it could mean for my non-human relationships (i.e. food and health habits). She informed me that Cancers (like myself) are often susceptible to digestive disorders and should say ‘no’ to alcohol (yikes) and ‘yes’ to food and drinks rich in water and fiber. Specifically, I should steer toward cucumbers, spinach, figs and pumpkins–advice that wasn’t hard for me to swallow.

Aries – March 21st to April 19th – Fire Sign
This sign represents enthusiasm, energy and stamina. Aries people live life head-on and are often positive, extroverted and headstrong. They have a burning desire to ‘play the game’ and are often very action-oriented. Rams are natural juice and smoothie drinkers, and are attracted to foods that support liver and kidney function: brown rice, lentils, beans, olives, apricots and pumpkins.

Taurus – April 20th to May 20th – Earth Sign
Taurus people are known for their stability, reliability and stubbornness. They are particular about the people and things in their lives and are amongst the most practical and reliable members of the zodiac. Bulls have a tendency to overindulge, so be sensible and cut back on sugary, starchy and fatty favorites. Root veggies, almonds, cauliflower and celery are great choices for these outdoorsy adventurers.

Gemini – May 21st – June 20th – Air Sign
A Gemini’s goal is to make everyone happy, which often gets them into trouble. They symbolize a dual nature and are known for their ability to be fast on their feet and are amongst the best communicators and companions in the zodiac. To fuel their over-active lifestyle, recommended eats include citrus fruits, plums, carrots, tomatoes and coconut.
Juice: Happy Juice – Pineapple with lemon, orange, coconut water & mint.
Cancer – June 21st to July 22nd – Water Sign
Cancers are typically homebodies who love their families, tradition and the serenity of being home. True to their name, they have a hard outer shell to protect their sensitive, nurturing souls. Cancers are known for having great memories and are often great storytellers. Our Crabby friends need to make sure they have a handle on their digestion, so a diet full of greens, turnips, mushrooms and cucumbers is recommended.
Juice: The Homie – Kale, spinach, green apple, cucumber, pear, parsley, lemon.
Leo – July 23rd to August 23rd – Fire Sign
Leos are impossible to miss; they tend to be lovers of limelight, confident and ambitious, and they’re the most extroverted and flamboyant personalities out of all zodiac signs. These people can be very magnetic and sunny, and they’re often natural leaders. The Lions love and need iron (don’t we all?), so meat, sunflower seeds, peaches, veggies, citrus fruit and eggs are a perfect option for these carb-loving cats.
Juice: The Sunshine Lover – Orange, grapefruit, carrot, ginger and rosemary.
Virgo – August 24th to September 22nd – Earth Sign
People under these signs are known for being picky and methodical and often have a very particular eye for detail. They are fact-finders and perfectionists that can never seem to sit still for long. They live to serve and support and are said to offer the most practical and well thought out solutions to challenges. Virgos are sensitive to toxins and additives and should stick to simple, whole foods with minimal ingredients. The stars recommend lemons, almonds, apples and herbs.

Libra – September 23rd to October 22nd – Air Sign
True to their name, Libras have a strong sense of balance and often look at problems from both sides. They crave peace and harmony more than any other astrology sign. Libras are natural partners and feel complete when they are with their soul mate. The best foods for this balancing act are beets, oatmeal, spinach, strawberries and apples.

Scorpio – October 23rd to November 21st – Water Sign
Scorpios have one of the most fierce, intuitive and complex souls of the astrology signs. The live in black and white and have very little time for gray issues or experiences. They are known for giving the impression that they can see right through you and know what’s going on under the surface. Scorpio’s health traits are deeply ingrained in the body’s natural ability to regenerate. Recommended foods include avocados, cottage cheese, nuts, mustard, spices and protein-rich foods.
Juice: The Nutter – Almond milk (sprouted almonds with filtered water), raw vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and medjool dates.
Sagittarius – November 22nd to December 21st – Fire Sign
Sagittarius people are the wanderers and truth seekers of the zodiac. Even though they jump into things with wild abandon, they bounce back quickly if it doesn’t work out. Their optimistic, fun-loving and curious spirit makes them a pleasure to have around. The Archers need to take special care of their diet. Suggested staples include prunes, beets, kale, apple, cherries, green beans, asparagus and corn.
Juice: The Remedy – Pineapple, cucumber, spinach, kale, ginger and mint.
Capricorn – December 22nd to January 19th – Earth Sign
Known for being cool, calm and self-disciplined, Capricorns possess a powerful inner strength that takes them to the top through sheer perseverance and hard work. They love power, respect and authority. They are ambitious, conservative, very practical and very dedicated to reaching their goals (which includes a very healthy lifestyle). Figs, dark leafy greens, brown rice, citrus fruits and almonds fuel this health nut. This sign rules bones and teeth, so be sure to include calcium-rich foods like dairy and sardines.

Aquarius – January 20th to February 18th – Air Sign
This idealistic, unconventional thinker lives outside of the box more than any other astrology sign. They are natural leaders and visionaries who often conjure up all sorts of radical changes that are progressive, logical and inventive with the underlying goal of benefitting the greater good. Walnuts, ocean fish, lemons, oranges, apples, lettuce, nuts, seeds and radishes are great sources of fuel for this rebellious sign.

Pisces – February 19th to March 20th – Water Sign
Pisces people are perceptive, spiritual, imaginative and selfless. They like to influence others through their compassionate, charitable and imaginative natures, but often find themselves influenced and exposed. These sensitive and selfless personalities absorb the emotions of others easily and can often feel misunderstood. It’s important for Pisces to eat foods that are good for their liver, brain and blood, which include beef, whole grains, apples, grapes, spinach, lemons and pears.
